WHO ARE WE?

Butterfly Bayou is a faith-inspired community designed to help women uncover their God-given purpose, take courageous steps to develop their talents, live in balance, and thrive through different seasons of life in a manner that points them to God as the source of all talent, guiding star, and provider. Through meaningful connections, practical tools, and personalized support, we provide a space where women can grow boldly, balance their lives, and pursue their goals with confidence.
Founder/Business Manager

Omena Abenabe

Hi and welcome to Butterfly Bayou. I began Butterfly Bayou out of personal experiences as an immigrant who built a career in one continent and had to start from scratch again in another continent. Navigating parenthood, marital failure and womanhood in a modern era and in a new world opened my eyes to the unique challenges of women. Over time, I saw the need to take steps to work closely with women. I do this primarily through Butterfly Bayou.

Why is Butterfly Bayou particular about a faith perspective?

I read an email devotional from Pastor Rick Warren sometime around 2019, about how we make our choices: logic, tradition, pop culture, faith/spirituality. I realized my life’s choices at the time were based mostly on logic. It was a significant time in my life as my marriage was headed towards the rocks. In 2021, after the end of my marriage, I reopened my heart to God as I read through the book, Life’s Healing Choices, by John Baker, Founder of Celebrate Recovery.  The Holy Spirit began a work of surrendering in my heart. I chose my Christian faith as my north star. It continues to influence my choices, outlook and perspective.

Many faith-inspired groups out there are focused on spiritual growth and work-faith connection. I desired to build a growth community that was well-rounded, addressing the needs of the WHOLE woman, which I define in five key areas”

  • Health, wellness & beauty
  • Spiritual growth
  • Career
  • Financial
  • Relational

My vision is to create a God-honoring community where women can discover and develop their talents through meaningful, balanced, and purpose-driven work with godly insight.
